Publication Ethics

Rizq: Journal of Islamic Economics and Finance is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to adhere to ethical principles rooted in both international scholarly norms and Islamic values, particularly amanah (trustworthiness), 'adl (justice), and ihsan (excellence). Any form of unethical behavior, including plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate submission, or authorship disputes, is strictly prohibited and will be handled in accordance with COPE guidelines.

1. Originality and Plagiarism

  • Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. Any use of others' work, including paraphrasing, must be properly cited.
  • Plagiarism in any form (direct copying, mosaic plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or AI-generated text without disclosure) is unacceptable.
  • The maximum similarity index allowed is 20% (excluding references), with no single source exceeding 5%.
  • All submissions will be screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate).

2. Data Integrity and Reproducibility

  • Authors must present their data, methods, and results honestly and without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate manipulation.
  • Raw data should be available for editorial review upon request and, where possible, deposited in a public repository.

3. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Submission

  • Authors may not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently.
  • Submitting a paper that has been previously published (in English or any other language) is prohibited unless it is a substantially expanded version with clear reference to the earlier work.

4. Authorship and Contributorship

  • Only persons who have made significant intellectual contributions to the conception, design, execution, data analysis, or interpretation should be listed as authors.
  • All listed authors must approve the final version and agree to its submission.
  • Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria (e.g., technical help, general supervision, funding) should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section.
  • Corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the journal and managing co-authors' approvals.
  • Requests for addition, removal, or reordering of authors after submission require a signed agreement from all authors.

5. Acknowledgment of Sources

  • Authors must properly cite all works that have influenced their research. This includes classical Islamic texts (Qur'an, Hadith, fiqh books) as well as contemporary scholarly literature.

6. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest

  • Authors must disclose any financial, personal, or institutional relationships that could influence their work (e.g., funding from a bank whose products are critiqued).
  • If no conflict exists, a statement "The authors declare no conflict of interest" is required.

7. Fundamental Errors in Published Work

  • If an author discovers a significant error in their own published work, they must immediately notify the editor and cooperate to retract or correct the paper.

8. AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) Policy

  • AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini) cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the work.
  • Authors must disclose any use of AI in writing, data analysis, or literature review in the Methods or Acknowledgments.
  • The author remains fully responsible for all content, including AI-generated portions.
